Draft Strategy Presented to Board of Health Today

The environment around us has a substantial influence on the quality and length of people’s lives.  This includes our air and waters, how well we handle emergencies, food safety, disease vectors and wastes.

Art Starry, Division Director of Thurston County Environmental Health, presented the Environment Action Strategy to the Board of Health and Thurston Thrives Advisory Council today. Art Starry leads the Environment Action Team, comprised of people from diverse disciplines (air and water quality, waste reduction, emergency preparedness) and the community, to develop strategies to ensure that the environment of Thurston County positively supports the health of our community.

The strategy – calling for clean air, clean water and reduction of waste, depends on the actions of everyone, from individuals to organizations, and the many partners with responsibilities for environmental health.
